"I was created! Now, I create!"
MR PAUL (Pine Mountain, Georgia) documents his real-world experiences by creating illustrations, large-scale figurative paintings, experimental music, soft sculptures, animations, and short films to serve as a reference point for his existence and eclectic perspective. By studying sign processes, signification and communication, MR PAUL absorbs the tradition of remembrance art into daily practice.
His works are based on inspiring situations: visions that reflect a sensation of indisputability and serene contemplation, combined with subtle details of odd or eccentric, humoristic elements.
His ever-growing body of work question the conditions of the appearance of an image in the context of contemporary visual culture in which images, representations and ideas normally function. By creating situations and breaking the passivity of the spectator, he tries to increase the dynamic equilibrium between audience and author by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through different interpretations. As a result, the viewer experiences cognitive dissonance as their preconceived ideals, perspectives, and values collide.
MR PAUL is represented by the Museum of Modern Perspective (MOMP).
